One Year On
Today marks the day we moved into our new home, and although we’ve still got lots to do, I thought I’d celebrate the occasion by sharing some of my favourite interior decisions we’ve made so far…
The Office
We now have space for a dedicated office, so had a whole new room to kit out with desks and chairs etc. The walls were already painted this peacock blue shade, so we decided to embrace colour in this room! We had a huge piece of art that we bought when living in our old flat, and it works so well in here.
We thought it might be nice to have a little break out area, and a big comfy armchair by the French doors fit the bill. While the other furniture in here is neutral so as not to overload the room with too much colour, we decided that yellow would look great against the walls and went for it!
The Hall
The entrance hall needed some storage for shoes and bags (mostly mine), and we began to look for benches to fit under the staircase. This one from Made.com caught our eye, and it’s one of my favourite pieces in the house. We dressed it with cushions from Debenhams, and now it’s a great little place to sit as well as hide all the footwear!
The Bathroom
Our main bathroom was a bit sad looking, with a greyish blue on the walls and dark wood-effect sink unit and mirror cabinet. It’s the only room that we’ve painted so far, and we chose Stiffkey Blue by F&B. It’s not the lightest of rooms, but having a stronger colour, even though it’s darker, makes it feel bigger and less drab. We replaced the dark units with a clean white cupboard and large sink, and we’ve just purchased the Philips Hue wall mirror to go above it (picture coming soon!)
We’ve still got big plans for the other areas in the house, so the project continues!
